If you simply want to create it, create a new empty file with the same name, after saving your aspx or ascx file again, the designer class will be created for you.

Unfortunately even with importing your old settings I'm still unable to reproduce the issue.

My recommendation is to avoid opening the designer file at all.

In the few cases where you might open it be sure to always save changes even if you haven't made any.

Solution 4 : Simply cut all the code of the aspx or ascx file, save it and again paste the original code, save it again. If nothing of the above solution works for you, please let me know.

Before trying any solution just try to remove all the error from your aspx or ascx file, as any error on the file will prevent the Visual Studio to create a designer file for you, and it might happen that none of the solution will work for you.

Solution 1 : Right Click on you aspx or ascx file and select "Convert to Web Application".

Re-reading some of the original comments to see if I'm forgetting anything you mentioned a debugging session on the original report, but it's not in the steps to reproduce.

Is that something you found wasn't required to exhibit the issue?

That's the approach I took that took me to a specific setting with VB which I'll continue to investigate.

When you're done you can import your settings to get back to a clean slate.
